Southbrook Stormwater - Rangiora

Hunter Civil engaged Evergreen Landcare to stabilise all the drain embankments and other sloping areas with hydroseed.

Tractor equipment was used to grass the flatter areas but we had to adapt to wetter than anticipated ground conditions in some areas. Changing equipment from our larger tractor and cultivation/seeding equipment, we brought in our lighter machinery to be able to do the job with the finish required. Direct drilling equipment was used in other areas where we didn't want to disturb the soil too much.

Siltstop® Wall

Evergreen Landcare, in conjunction with partners built this Mechanically Stabilised Earth (MSE) retaining wall near Tairua using Erosion Control Siltstop Tubes.

The use of MSE or compacted earth retaining walls has been used successfully throughout New Zealand in the past.

Traditionally hessian sacks filled with soil have been used to create a green, growing face.

The use of Siltstop erosion control tubes significantly speeds up this part of the process, reducing machine down time and lowering overall costs.

Long Bay Subdivision

Evergreen Landcare has been contracted by Hick Bros Civil Construction to carry out stabilisation work, erosion and sediment control, and re-instatement work for the development of the Long Bay subdivision on the North Shore.

Large amounts of straw mulching, seeding and fertilising were carried out over large open exposed surfaces to stabilise and re-vegetate after extensive earthworks had taken place.

Hydro soil was applied successfully to a big clay batter in order to establish good vegetation cover on difficult soil conditions.

Also in addition to this, large quantities of straw wattles were supplied and installed to provide additional erosion and sediment control.
