We have machinery for topsoil spreading, cultivation, fertiliser application and drainage — and where a site is tight or delicate, a wheelbarrow and a shovel, which we are not too proud to use.

We use certified turf blends, the same cultivars specified for New Zealand stadiums, golf courses and sports fields, carrying a minimum standard of 98% purity and 90% germination tested within the previous twelve months. Seed at 90% germination against seed at 45% needs half as much to produce the same lawn.

In ideal spring or autumn conditions germination shows in about seven days. More typically allow ten to fourteen days depending on watering and ground temperature, and longer through the colder months. Preparation still matters — turf laid on a poor base fails the same way seed does — and ready lawn still has an establishment period while roots knit into the soil beneath. We install nationwide, on retirement villages, public spaces and private residences.
