Strata Web Install

Thoject was located on a steep slope in Flat Bush for Hick Bros Civil. Evergreen’s scope of work involved installing the StrataWeb product supplied by Cirtex on a 1:1 batter. The project was completed in two stages.

The first step was the installation of the StrataWeb product. The StrataWeb product is a three-dimensional honeycomb structure made of high-strength geogrid material. It is designed to provide a stable and durable slope reinforcement system. The product was delivered to the site and each panel was assembled together with tendons and fittings. These panels were then fixed onto the slope using a trench the the top of the batter secured into this with ducks bill styple anchors using an SDS drill and backfilled with metal aggregate and then fixed onto the slope using steel J-pin acnhors.

The next step involved bringing in a long reach excavator which was used to lower and spread the topsoil onto and inbetween the StrataWeb product. The topsoil was carefully spread and leveled to create a smooth surface for the final stage.

Following up from the topsoil install Evergeen completed what it does best! Hydroseeding! Hydroseeding is a quick and efficient method of revegetation. The specially designed hydroseeder was used to spray a mixture of seed, fertilizer, and mulch onto the slope. The mixture adhered to the StrataWeb product, providing a stable growing medium for the seed to germinate.

The project was completed in 2 stages with the first install of strata web being around 3000m2 and the second stage being about 3500m2, there was then circa 1600m3 of topsoil installed onto the batter.

Installing the strata web is a tedious and time consuming task, especially when you ahve a 1:1 batter to work with required staff to be in harnesses. However no challenge is too big or small for our team and the guys and girls really got stuck into this one providing a outstanding finished product for our Client and the Developer.
